ANGUILLA STRONG !
To all...
Yes, my island has been hit by one of the most powerful storms to ever pass this part of the world. On the 6th day of September 2017, we were down but not out. I am a survivor along with all the other Anguillians to tell the story and rebuild this wonderful country.
We did suffer one fatality which is one too many and our hearts go out to the family, friends and loved ones of that individual.
It's now time to rebuild and we do need your help to get it done. We're not asking much of you, all we ask of you is trust in our ability to have Anguilla up and running faster than you ever thought. Now you are all more than welcome to book your flights, rent a car from Andy's, drive around the island and see the progress we have already done. Many of our Beach Bars and Restaurants are open for business and when night comes look upwards at the skies and only see what your great grandparents could have seen 100 years ago, not JAY-Z and Beyonce but the real STARS (up in the sky) at their best.
The beaches are already back and they look better than before. For example,
the east part of Shoal Bay Beach where Gwen's Reggae Grill was first located, has now come back better and bigger than before. I do have many of these stories to share with you and they all speak of the positive road to rebuilding.
The best thing of being down is there is only one direction to go: UP!
Our island/Anguilla yours and mine, believe it or not is already up and running. The gas pumps, supermarkets, schools, airport and seaports (ferry terminal) and of course, Andy's Auto Rentals are all open for business. If you were to come to Anguilla today, rent a car from Andy's and drive around the island you will not notice we were hit by a monster of a storm. However, once the sun sets there will be signs of HURRICANE IRMA because power has not yet been fully restored throughout the island. The power company and many hotels and resorts are working only night and day to get this done.
Thank you and please come and help us rebuild!
-Andy
